Join us for Art, Food & Fall in the Hilltowns

Take the scenic route to visit artists at home studios and at the tour hub, Worthington Town Hall. Make your self-guided tour an adventure with art demonstrations, performances, and local food featuring the best of fall in the Hilltowns.

The Hilltowns are located 30 minutes from the Berkshires, Springfield, Holyoke, Greenfield, or Northampton—full of breathtaking outlooks to view the foothills and winding along clear, cool rivers. Whether it’s your perfect fall weekend or an afternoon outing, the Hilltown Open Studio Tour, or HOST as we like to call it, is full of opportunities to fill your senses with art and everything the Hilltowns have to offer.

Explore art and everywhere in between. We can’t wait to see you!

Exceptional Artworks

Incredible artisanship will be on display in this curated studio tour. It’s an opportunity to support local and regional artists directly while growing your collection of functional and inspirational artworks across a range of media, including ceramics, painting, printing, textiles, photography, jewelry, sculpture and more.

In the Studio

Meet artists where they live and work. Visit the 14 studio tour stops, including the Worthington Town Hall Tour Hub, to engage with the 24 participating artists. Take advantage of this singular opportunity to peer into the creative process, speak with artists directly about their work, and come to understand the context of their practice on-site. It’s a powerful and rare glimpse at how artworks are made, and how the places artists work inform the art they make.

Worthington Tour Hub

Our tour hub is Worthington Town Hall in the bucolic village of Worthington, the heart of the Hilltowns, central and accessible by many roads from both Valley and Berkshires, and beyond. This welcoming community with deep historical roots is also bustling with opportunities to sate your appetite and fill your senses, with restaurants, a brewery, and several wooded trails to take in the fall color.

Worthington Town Hall, located at 160 Huntington Rd, features five artists, food, art demonstrations, and live music.

Print brochures will be available there and at each studio location, with artist samples and the tour map.

Take the Scenic Route

The Hilltowns are beautiful and feel remote as they unfold between the Berkshires and the Pioneer Valley, yet are accessible for both day trips and the perfect fall weekend. Many HOST artists are inspired by this landscape, either represented in their work, or with locally-sourced materials and natural themes. Come visit the heart of the Hilltowns in Chesterfield, Cummington, Plainfield, and Worthington for your self-guided adventure.

Gas, Charge & Services

Please note that restrooms and gas stations are not in every village. There are gas stations on Rte 20 in Russell, Rte 23 in Otis, Rte 116 in Ashfield, and Rte 9 in Williamsburg. Please have a full charge on your electric vehicle. Bathrooms are available at the Tour Hub and at the eateries listed, but not necessarily at all the studios. There is cell service for GPS systems in most, but not all places (the northern Hilltowns can be spotty), so map-reading skills may come in handy.

Brochures with Tour Maps will available at many locations, including:

Velvet/The Links at Worthington
Liston’s
Old Creamery Co-op
Chesterfield General Store
Salmon Falls Gallery

Two handrails and wide, gradual wooden steps (13 steps). There is a 32” wide entrance, with a slightly raised threshold to enter the first floor of the barn. The studio is spacious with two steps to the upper area. Most artwork is on display in the lower portion.
