Jeanne Johns

47 Main St., Cummington MA, 413-923-7107

Jeanne Johns has been working as an artist and teacher for 56 years, the last 43 years as a resident of the Netherlands. For the last four years she has been working on a portrait project here in Cummington sponsored by the Mass. Council of the Arts. Her medium is oil, her style impressionistic. The portraits are painted during conversation sessions of two hours. Every year in October 50 portraits are exhibited at the Cummington Community Center. This year there is also an exhibit of portraits and florals during the month of June at Elmer’s in Ashfield.

She is an autodidact, learning from constantly reading art books and going to exhibits. Her work, not only in portraiture but also landscape and floral still-life is in collections all over the world.
